Any Awards or Scholarships?

I’m flying back to Norway tomorrow (Sunday July 21), so I guess this is my last update from LA. I went to the go-see event on Thursday and I talked with producers, casting agents, directors and other people who works in the entrainment business. It was an interesting experience! The entertainment business is full of amusing people…some of them truly wants to help me, while others just wants to use me. I heard some really good stuff, but I overheard some bad advice as well.

I had a great conversation with a director (and judge at WCOPA) about the whole competition and entertainment business! If I’m ever going to work in this business, then I would love to work with people like him, because I could feel his heart for acting and actors! Being an actress is so much more than money, fame and attention! For me it’s a passion and an art!

Anyway, I also got a call-back from the New York Academy! Roger Del Pozo, one of the judges and bootcamp teachers, invited me to come back for an audition or interview, because they were considering to give me a scholarship…pretty cool! (But to be honest, I don’t know if I want to study at New York Academy…if I had received a scholarship for a full year, then I would be thrilled, but I haven’t ever really considered studying there). I enjoyed the audition (more like a conversation), because Roger Del Pozo has a vibe that makes people respect him…he seems like a truly likable guy!

And then, on Friday evening, it was time for the final! An evening full of glitter and glamour! Girls with beautiful heels, stunning make-up and dresses to die for! We took a few pictures and then at 7 pm, the final began! The audience was big and the show was live-streamed all over the world…a professional show. Our Norwegian models were incredible! I don’t know much about modelling, but the girl from our team won Senior Grand Champion of Everyday Models (I think that was the title of her prize), so I guess they did amazing! Extremely impressive!

During the final, I sat a few seats away from the director that I talked with at the go-see, he recognized me and I had the chance to thank him for the conversation! I told him how grateful I was for our talk and he appreciated that I told him. He gave me a hug, told me that he believes in me and wished me luck! A likeable guy! Later, I found out that he is an extremely talented director and well-know in the business…which is understandable, because he seems like a great guy!

And then, my last full day in LA, Saturday July 20…the day of the awards ceremony. Time to find out who received medals and scholarships. Did I win anything at all? It all started at 9 am and lasted until 4 pm (Yes, it took a long time! And I have to admit that I came late and took a break in the middle of it…it’s not that interesting to see a bunch of people go on stage and receive a medal…) And I have to disappoint…I didn’t win a single medal or scholarship… but that’s okay! I won a whole lot of experience, a trip to LA and a crazy adventure! All the memories are worth way more than any medal or award!

After the awards ceremony, we went to a restaurant to eat dinner together and celebrate! Scandinavia won many prizes and I’m so proud of all of them! And to end everything, there was a Celebration Party for all the contestant in the evening. Beautiful cakes, delicious fruit, great service and a dance floor! It was a nice way to end a busy week!

And that was it…I’m flying back to Norway tomorrow and I’ll be back on Monday. It’s a long trip and it’s boring to travel alone, but I guess I’ll survive …And again, thanks for all the support! I’ve said it many times, but I truly appreciate it!

I didn’t make it to the semifinal and I didn’t win any awards, but that doesn’t mean that my time here was wasted! All the hard work, preparations and rehearsals were totally worth it! It’s been an amazing experience and I’ve loved it, but all the preparations and everything else has also been quite exhausting…so it’ll be nice to just take a break from all of it. I’m excited to go back to Norway!
